Central Vietnam celebrate the International Disaster Reduction Day

In response to the International Day for Disaster reduction, 13 October 2012, Save the Children, in cooperation with other International organizations: Malteser International, the German Red Cross, the Center for Rural Development sustainable and Nordic aid Vietnam and the Red Cross of Da Nang city, Vietnam is planning to hold a big meeting, involving about 350 people in the central Vietnam to celebrate and support the empowerment of women and girls in Disaster risk reduction and response.
The event is organized with funding support from OFDA/USAID to target:
- Awareness raising and community understanding of disaster risk reduction and response especially in areas vulnerable communities
- Enhance the role and capacity of women and girls in disaster risk reduction and safe community action
- Strengthening the cooperation between the government, the Education & Training sector, social organizations and propose policies and measures to implement the National Strategy on prevention and mitigation of natural disasters in 2020.

Participants:
- Representative of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, the Committee for Flood and Storm Control & Search and Rescue, Red Cross, Women's Union, the Department of Education and Training.
- Volunteer, children, teachers,
Media, TV, News, Radio etc
Content of Operation:
- Photo show, paintings, diagrams of disaster
- Film on role of women and girls in disaster
- Speech the leaders of Da Nang City, Speech of the Women's Union
- Signing commitments in response to capacity building of women and girls
- Dialogue on television: Leaders talking with children, girls and women on disaster management
