GDN-North America Regional Hub

13:42 Oct 11 2012 Kelowna, BC, Canada

A new Gender and Disaster Network (GDN) North American Regional Hub will be launched early in 2013 with the goal of maximizing resources, identifying and meeting common needs, and furthering regional collaboration toward responsive disaster risk reduction. In concert with other GDN members around the globe, we in Canada, the US, and Mexico believe that regionalization will enable more coordinated efforts to understand and reduce the effects of cross-border hazards and risks, provide a platform for advancing common interests, and help secure the resources needed to move forward. We anticipate drawing on common strengths and resources to offer joint trainings, coordinate outreach and awareness efforts, collect and disseminate information, and develop and strengthen personal and organizational networks across the region while supporting gender equality.
