Gender and Disaster Network African Regional Website Launch

In supporting the work of the Gender and Disaster Network which was launched 15 years ago, the African Regional Site will also be inaugurated. The launch comes at a time when not only is the GDN Main site celebrating its 15th Birthday but also its launch coincides with the International Day for Disaster Reduction 2012 - with its theme of "Women and Girls - the [in]Visible Force of Resilience". The GDN Africa will be launched at the 1st Biennial Conference of the African Centre for Disaster Studies in the morning and will be followed by conference paper presentations under the theme "Gender, Culture and Disaster Risk chaired by Dr. Maureen Fordham (Univ. of Northumbria, UK).
